What sports story interested me this weekend?

The most interesting story for me this weekend was the announcement that the Ashes in Australia will go ahead this winter. The reason i find this so interesting is because a few months ago, the series was a serious doubt due to the England players worried about not being able to take their family members overdue to the Australian coronavirus restrictions.

In my opinion, the Ashes is the biggest series in cricket history and it was always going to be vitally important that it went ahead. England will be looking to avenge what happened last time the team was down under when the Aussies won the series 4-0 so England will be wanting to get revenge.

As well as news about the tour officially going ahead, the ECB also named the 17 man squad that will be traveling. The notable news is that Ben stokes won’t make the squad as his indefinite break from all forms of cricket continues, and Jofra Archer will also not travel having not played much international cricket all summer.

It was definitely a big moment within cricket due to how big an Australian ashes series is for English fans, and how much excitement it gives English fans during the winter months.
