Flynn feels his side killed Wimbledon off as the saddlers get back-to-back wins for the second time this season.

Walsall enjoyed a rare Saturday winning feeling after they got past mid table rivals AFC Wimbledon in a 3-1 victory at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The west midlands side came into the match on the big of a huge midweek win over high flying Northampton Town.

The Saddlers boss said: “It’s a good win, we killed them off which we haven’t done since the first game of the season, it’s the first time in 13 games we have scored more then once, and we had less opportunities today than any other game.

“Our conversion rate was much higher and it’s a big win, seven points this week, it’s been a good week”.

AFC Wimbledon game into the game on the big their own win last weekend, and Flynn was very relived to see his substitute Tom Knowles tap home the third goal in injury time to settle on last few minute nerves for the saddlers to hold on and get their fourth win of the season.

Flynn added: “Wimbledon are a good team, they’ve got experienced players, (Lee) Brown, (Chris) Gunter, they have got some good players and I know they will be alright this year.

“I was relieved because you never know, we have been bitten a few times this season and I didn’t want it to happen today”.

The Welshman was pleased with the performance and efforts of striker Douglas James- Taylor who had another strong performance including an assist for the second goal.

He said: “He (James- Taylor) should have scored, but Douglas is learning, he’s a fantastic kid who wants to learn, he’s asking questions and I am really pleased for him.”

It was Mansfield loanee Danny Johnson who settled the nerves with his 10th goal of the season to put the saddlers back in front after not touching the ball to often throughout the game, but now has a weekend off as Walsall travel to his parent club, and Michael needs someone to step into the hot shot’s shoes.

Flynn said: “Neither does Haaland they say! I think Haaland has 20 so he’s got a long way to go.

“We are not quite as good as Manchester City yet, I know pep and I have got a lot to learn from him as well, but it’s something Danny should be proud of.

“He can’t play next weekend as we all know so someone else needs to step up and take their opportunity.”
